Preparing to Apply
There are some simple things you can do to help make the process as smooth as possible.
While there may be additional documentation required, you will most likely need your driver’s license and social security card, your two most recent pay stubs, tax returns for the previous two years, and documents evidencing any financial assets you own – such as bank account statements or retirement account statements. You’ll need this documentation for each person applying for a mortgage.

Avoid Big Changes
Stable credit and employment history is an important factor in qualifying for a mortgage. Before making any large purchases, applying for new credit cards, paying off existing debt, or changing jobs it is very important to discuss these decisions with your Mortgage Loan Originator-- we are here to help you make the process as easy as possible.
If possible, try to leave at least one week between your closing date and the date you’re scheduled to move into your new home. That way you have some flexibility in case something unexpectedly delays your closing.
After You Close
When you move into your new home you may receive solicitation mail. This happens because your title paperwork makes you the registered owner of the home. This information is available to the public at your county clerk’s office.
Some direct mail marketers may make the solicitation mail look like it came from DHI Mortgage, or even a government agency. We will never sell or lease your information to third parties.
